Deputy Dave Teems
Dave Teems started his career with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 as a Uniform Patrol Deputy. Prior to working at the Sheriff’s Office he worked at a local news station as the Chief Videographer.
In 2009 he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Bureau where he worked as a detective in the Vice/Narcotics Unit, Property Crimes Unit, Financial Crimes Unit, and the Violent Crimes/Special Victims Unit.
In 2016, Deputy Teems transferred back to Uniform Patrol and worked as a Field Training Officer.
In 2018, he was named the Public Information Officer.
Deputy Teems has been a member of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard since 2006. In 2015, he was honored to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery in honor of Deputy Chris Smith who was killed in the line of duty while serving the citizens of Leon County.
In 2016, Deputy Teems was named as the Law Enforcement Liaison for the Northeast Florida Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors. In this role he assists with the families, friends, and coworkers of law enforcement officers who have been severely injured or lost their lives in the line of duty. Every year he attends National Police Week in Washington DC to assist the families of fallen officers.
Dave also supports national and local community charities to include; Special Olympics, United Way, American Heart Walk, Relay for Life, and Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, to name a few.
