How long is the video footage stored?
The goal of the "SafeCam" program is to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the Leon County Sheriff's Office and the community we serve.  Accordingly, all "SafeCam" registrants agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Any footage containing or related to criminal activity may be collected by the Leon County Sheriff's Office for use as evidence during any stage of a criminal proceeding.
2. Relevant information is reserved for official use by the Leon County Sheriff's Office and will not be released to any member of the general public or press.
3. If necessary, the Leon County Sheriff's Office will contact you directly, using the information provided on this site, to request the appropriate video surveillance footage.
4. Under no circumstances shall registrants construe that they are acting as an agent and/or employee of the Leon County Sheriff's Office through participation in the "SafeCam" program.
5. Under no circumstances shall the Leon County Sheriff's Office utilize any information obtained to view footage/feeds directly from cameras owned by registrants.

Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.

We welcome you to share your thoughts and feedback with us, and we ask that you please be responsible and courteous in your comments and replies. We reserve the right to hide/remove any comments or ban any users who violate our policy. Comments that contain obscene, indecent, or profane language; contain threats or defamatory statements; are bullying, intimidating, or harassing any user; contain personal attacks; contain hate speech; promote or endorse services or products; suggest or encourage illegal activity; are multiple, repetitive off-topic posts by a single user (spam); are not topically related to the particular posting; violate a legal ownership interest of any other party; or imbed links to other Internet sites may be hidden/removed. Users who violate this policy may be banned.

Our rules of decorum are in place to encourage civil discourse and to prevent a poster from disrupting dialog in a way that prevents or impedes the accomplishment of the purpose of our social media sites. Our purpose is to convey important public safety information, increase our ability to quickly, effectively, and efficiently reach Leon County and Big Bend area residents to help us find criminal suspects, find missing and/or endangered persons, communicate public safety alerts, and further our mission of preventing, reducing, suppressing, displacing, solving, and fighting crime in Leon County.
