Sergeant Torrance Henderson

Sergeant Torrance Henderson is currently assigned to the Community and Media Relations Unit at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. The Community and Media Relations Unit disseminates public safety information, as well as plans and promotes LCSO’s outreach initiatives, creating and maintaining community partnerships.

Sergeant Henderson has been employed with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office since 1998. He began his career as a Corrections Officer where he worked in Housing, Confinement and Central Control. He obtained an A.A. Degree in Criminal Justice from Chipola Junior College, his crossover to law enforcement from North Florida Community College in Madison, FL and later obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology from Florida State University.

During Sergeant Henderson's time with LCSO he has worked as a deputy in Uniform Patrol, a detective in Property Crimes, the Special Victims Unit, and Violent Crimes. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked nights on AB shift before transferring to the Department of Youth Services where he supervised 28 deputies and 22 School Crossing Guards. Sergeant Henderson is also a member of the LCSO Honor Guard and sits on the Board for the Tallahassee Urban League, Big Bend Fraud Task Force, and Lively Technical College Occupational Advisory Committee. Sergeant Henderson is also a certified Crime Prevention and CPTED Practitioner.
