The Uniform Patrol Division of the Leon County Sheriff's Office consists of 96 deputy sheriffs and supervisors who provide law enforcement services to a 702 square mile area. The deputies are deployed to one of four fixed shifts and assigned to one of three fixed sectors covering 100% of Leon County and the city of Tallahassee.
The deputies in the division actively patrol Leon County responding to calls for service from citizens, business owners and community partners. Deputies also participate in crime prevention and detection by actively searching for suspicious persons and activity. Uniform Patrol Deputies also enforce traffic laws and investigate traffic crashes. Deputies conduct initial criminal investigations and crime scene processing. Each deputy is issued a marked patrol vehicle that they take home in order to provide a law enforcement presence in neighborhood communities.
